Failed IVF: What to Know?
Whenever IVF fails, the patient becomes emotionally disturbed. So, there are some important things to keep in mind before starting the treatment.
- IVF success rate is 35-40% after having good embryos.
- To do IVF, you have to be mentally ready to do it 2 to 3 times.
- The cost of IVF is at least 1 to 2 lakhs and if you need some additional treatments then its charges are added separately. Therefore, it is very important for patients to prepare financially for IVF.
Second IVF success rates range from 35 to 40%. In spite of this, only 35–40% of IVF cycles are successful after passing a real top embryo. Additionally, you ought to bear this in mind.
The patient believes with all of his or her might that if an embryo is 100%, then success is 100% certain. This is the incorrect way to think. Instead of following doctors’ recommendations, the majority of patients try to practice medicine.
The majority of IVF patients in our nation, India, want to keep their therapy a secret rather than eventually exploding it. To that end, it is advised that all patients seek out counseling.
If you want to receive mental support, talk as much as you can about IVF or join a support group. In IVF treatment, there is no requirement for bed rest.
Every day, a huge number of women battle depression, which causes an increase in emotional problems. You should not stay alone because it harms your mental health; instead, you should go to work.

What Happens When the First IVF Cycle Fails?
In vitro fertilization or IVF is not always successful the first time it is attempted. In the IVF process eggs are retrieved from a woman’s ovaries after taking ovarian stimulation medications anywhere from 10-12 days typically. Once the eggs are retrieved, they are fertilized with the sperm sample.
The embryos are created and the best of those embryos are transferred back into the uterine cavity. Remaining embryos that are of high quality can be frozen or cry preserved for later use.
A question that typically arises is “What happens if the first cycle doesn’t work?” Well, it depends on what happened in the first cycle. If the cycle resulted in a good number of eggs and high-quality embryos, but implantation did not occur, then, the physician needs to consider any other possibilities.
For example, is the uterine cavity normal? Is there evidence of an autoimmune response that could be affecting implantation? Or are the embryos genetically not normal when they appear morphologically under a microscope to be normal? These are all factors that the reproductive endocrinologist is considering.

However, rest assured that after the first cycle of IVF, even if unsuccessful, the next cycle generally results in the same success rate.
It does not diminish, necessarily, just because it’s the second cycle or the third cycle. There is data, however, that suggests with numerous failed cycles, the chances of conception do become lower and lower.

finding the right solutions tailored to their specific
circumstances can make all the difference “
