I definitely understand why you’re asking because I’ve learnt through my own fertility journey that having a “good” ovarian reserve on paper doesn’t necessarily mean every retrieval is going to give you the number of eggs or embryos you hoped for. There can be a huge drop between what you expect from your reserve and what you actually get from a cycle. I had to learn not to treat one number or one appointment as a guarantee of how the whole process would go. So yes, needing several retrievals can happen even when the initial reserve looks reassuring.
I’ve definitely seen this happen. I always thought good ovarian reserve meant one cycle should give u plenty of eggs, but the number retrieved and the number that are actually mature can be very different. Did anyone here have to do 3 or more cycles even with a good AMH and AFC?
Totally get why that stings when you were told your reserve looked good on paper. I saw a lot of that gap between what the tests say and what your body actually goes through when I was in my own adeno workup, numbers dont always tell the full story. What did your doctor say when the first cycle didnt give the results they expected :/
