Did anyone need 3+ egg freezing cycles despite being told they had good ovarian reserve?
Yes, I know someone who had to do 3 egg freezing cycles even though her ovarian reserve looked good on paper. Her AMH and AFC were reassuring, but the number of mature eggs retrieved each cycle was still lower than expected. It really showed me that good ovarian reserve doesn't always mean you'll get a good number of eggs from one cycle. Did your doctor give u any idea why your response was lower than expected?
I was surprised by this too because I always thought having good ovarian reserve would mean one cycle should be enough. But I realised there are so many other factors involved like how many eggs you actually retrieve, maturity, and how many survive the freezing process.
I’ve had to think about egg numbers quite differently than I expected. A good ovarian reserve on paper doesn’t necessarily mean every cycle will give you the number of mature eggs you’re hoping for, and the attrition can be brutal. I’d really like to hear from anyone who needed 3 or more retrievals despite having a good AMH and AFC. What did your numbers actually look like from cycle to cycle?
