I wouldn’t rule out IUI just because one tube is blocked. I had to learn not to look at one finding in isolation and assume it decides everything. If the other tube is open, there can still be a chance, and I’d personally want my fertility doctor to look at which side is open and how that fits with ovulation before deciding what treatment makes sense.
IUI can still work if just one tube is blocked, as long as the other one is open and healthy since ovulation alternates between ovaries most cycles. Dr Jay Mehta actually tracked which side i was ovulating from before timing the IUI, made more sense once i understood that logic instead of just assuming it wouldnt work at all. It obviously helps if the blocked side isnt causing other issues like a hydrosalpinx since that fluid can affect success rates even on the open side. Worth getting a proper HSG done if you havent already just to know whats actually going on with both tubes
One blocked tube doesn’t automatically rule out IUI, but I’m wondering how doctors decide whether it’s worth trying. With endometriosis and surgery already being part of my own journey, I know fertility decisions can get complicated quickly. Has anyone with one blocked tube had success with IUI, or did your doctor recommend IVF instead?
