I had this same worry honestly! I remember asking Dr Jay Mehta if PCOS basically meant IVF was waiting for me, and he explained that it really depends on whether you’re ovulating and what else is affecting fertility. That made me feel SO much better because IVF isn’t automatically the next step for every woman with PCOS 🙂

Not all women suffering from PCOS require IVF for conception. In most cases, PCOS leads to ovulation abnormalities; however, there are various ways for women to conceive without IVF. Various lifestyle modifications, along with ovulation-stimulating drugs, like letrozole, and sometimes IUI, might be attempted before IVF. IVF would be recommended when the woman did not conceive with other options, was unable to induce proper ovulation, or had other fertility concerns such as tubal occlusion and male infertility. The fertility expert would suggest the most suitable method in consideration of age, ovarian reserve, ovulation, and other fertility issues.
