I had some itching around the surgical area during healing too & for me it was mostly from the skin healing. But if it’s very intense, getting red, swollen, painful, or there’s any discharge, I would get it checked rather than scratching it. Better to let the doctor have a look just to be safe.
Of course, I still remember how odd and irritating that healing itch can be! At 15 days the body is still carrying out a lot of repair. Is the itching limited to the area around the incision or does it also spread to the surrounding areas?
This itching phase sounds sooo frustrating :/ After surgery there can be so many weird sensations that nobody really prepares you for. I remember being confused by every new feeling during recovery and wondering if it was normal or not. Did your surgeon give you any post op instructions about the incision healing?
Yes, mine got so itchy around the two week mark and it drove me mad! It was just the skin healing for me, though I did keep an eye out for any redness or discharge. Is yours only itchy, or does the skin look a bit different too?
Yep, this happened to me too! Around that stage I remember the itching being way more annoying than the actual pain, especially when the skin started healing. It was SO hard not to scratch it
