I was 27 when I found out my AMH was 1.2 and I only have one ovary, so I completely understand why that number can get into your head. What helped me was remembering that AMH was only one part of the picture. I’ve seen women with low numbers still have good outcomes, and others need a bit more help than they expected. It’s such a personal thing though. I’d love to hear what your AMH was and what you ended up doing.

I’ve had to think about egg numbers quite differently than I expected. A good ovarian reserve on paper doesn’t necessarily mean every cycle will give you the number of mature eggs you’re hoping for, and the attrition can be brutal. I’d really like to hear from anyone who needed 3 or more retrievals despite having a good AMH and AFC. What did your numbers actually look like from cycle to cycle?

I was surprised by this too because I always thought having good ovarian reserve would mean one cycle should be enough. But I realised there are so many other factors involved like how many eggs you actually retrieve, maturity, and how many survive the freezing process.

I remember feeling the same panic when I first saw my AMH report. It’s such a scary number to read because your mind immediately goes to worst case scenarios. I later realised AMH is only one part of the picture and doesn’t decide everything on its own. The whole fertility picture matters a lot, including age, other reports and how you respond to treatment. :(

I’m 28 and always thought I’d have plenty of time to think about kids, so hearing that my ovarian reserve is lower than expected really scared me. I’ve been reading so much about AMH, egg quality, IVF and egg freezing that my head is honestly spinning. I know AMH doesn’t tell the whole fertility story, but it’s still hard not to worry when you see that number. For those who had low AMH, what was your experience like? Were you able to conceive naturally or did you end up doing IUI or IVF? I’d really love to hear some positive stories too.

Yes, I know someone who had to do 3 egg freezing cycles even though her ovarian reserve looked good on paper. Her AMH and AFC were reassuring, but the number of mature eggs retrieved each cycle was still lower than expected. It really showed me that good ovarian reserve doesn't always mean you'll get a good number of eggs from one cycle. Did your doctor give u any idea why your response was lower than expected?

Yes, I used to get that feeling with adeno too. Like my uterus was constantly heavy, irritated and just never completely settled, even when I wasn't on my period. Some days it was more of a dull pressure and other days it felt like everything was flaring at once. Does anyone else get that constant heavy or swollen feeling too?

I’ve wondered about this too. It seems like pain treatment really depends on the person. Some use painkillers, while others may need hormonal treatment or medication for nerve-related pain. I think it’s best to discuss the options with your gynae.
