Treatment of Cervical Cancer

Cancer Cervix is the most common cancer currently affecting the female genital tract in India.

Unfortunately many women who get afflicted with cancer cervix usually present late once it has invaded the parametrium or has spread to the adjacent organs. Usually in this stage, the only treatment option remaining for the patient is to undergo palliative concurrent chemo-radiation.

For women who present early, a variety of surgical options are available which can then permanently cure them of the disease, provided the treatment of cervical cancer is done systematically and correctly.

Women with the following complains must have themselves evaluated for cervical cancer:
  1. Bleeding post intercourse
  2. Chronic Foul Smelling discharge from the vagina
  3. Post Menopausal Bleeding
Dr. Jay Mehta specializes in the following surgeries for the treatment of cervical cancer:
  1. Laparoscopic Nerve Sparing Radical Hysterectomy
  2. Laparoscopic Total Mesometrial Resection
  3. Laparoscopic Pelvic and Para-Aortic Lymphadenectomy
  4. Laparoscopic Completion Radical Hysterectomy post Radiotherapy

Dr. Jay Mehta performs the surgery using 3D Laparoscopy which makes the entire procedure extremely safe for the patient by providing with greater depth perception as well as delineating the anatomical structures very well which help in the preservation of nerves and hence reduce the post-operative complications drastically.
